Well, I suppose you could argue it's got... I don't know... nutrients or something in it? But as soon as it's out of the body, a placenta is literally dead meat. It probably does about as good as a slab of steak. In fact, as it's an organ not a muscle, it would be counted as offal. Eewwwww, I'm making myself a bit sick with this....

The thing is, she can't come up with any science to back this up, just pseudo-science. Oh, she'll probably say something about how the placenta is meant to "clean out toxins" or something equally vague. Or she may even push out the boat and claim that "that's where scientists get stem cells", so might go for that angle.

It's all bollocks. In fact it sounds remarkably like that claim that certain bodily fluids* are good for female skin. In all my life I've never managed to successfully persuade a woman that that's true.
