There must be more to motherhood Online parenting forums are flooded with depressed, tired and anxious mums. Whatever happened to the yummy mummy dream? What amazes me is how any article about how parenthood is hard work and maybe not all its cracked up to be is always commented on by outrages parents protesting that they couldn't be happier and that parents who complain are ungrateful wretches who should be delighted to endure the drudgery of parenting in exchange for the child's love. What are they hoping to achieve - is it to drown out the voice in their own head saying "Help help help"? Is it to ensure that even more people are deceived into thinking that parenthood is for them? You are an angel heading for a land of sunshine. Fortune is smiling upon you.

Predictably, I couldn't help myself: These are the very people who try to convince us CF that our choice not to have children is invalid. Makes me laugh. You make your bed, you lie in it. Maybe if parenthood wasn't put so much on a pedestal then maybe people would have more realistic expectations. 6 billion "miracles" is more than enough. They get so excited when their little bundle of nightmares comes along, but I find when the child reaches one and is constantly wanting something they get stressed (and normally have another one!!). These people just do not listen to us. Childfree means freedom, why the hell would you want to give that up.

The main reason is the Patriarchal society in which we live, where womb men are only tolerated for their wombs. This generation of parents have not received Mother Love, so how can they give it.
