I experienced the same in All Bar One in Wimbledon - walked in, first thing I saw was a bright red buggy and the mother having a coffee - there are enough other places she could have gone that don't have an alcohol licence let alone a 21s policy. I emailed them if you remember, but heard nothing back. The Croydon one I go to all the time and I have seen them shoo people with buggies away at least twice.

I suppose it's like I say, some managers might just define under 21s as being people who could be 18+ or younger than that but look 18 and they suspect they are the ones likely to get lairy, but infants in buggies won't be drinking alcohol so they don't view them as troublesome but a crying baby is just as irritating as young people who can't hold their ale in my opinion.

As far as I am concerned, even if a tot is kept in the buggy there is no need for the mother to bring them to a pub - once she's no longer pregnant that baby is a person in its own right and not an automatic extension of the mother and things should be done differently.

If you were visiting us during the day or early evening up until 7pm them we
allow children in the bar as mainly during that time we focus on food
service and we have quite a few regular customers who come to us every week
and sometimes bring there children with them.

The only time we do not allow children in is after 9pm, (this is when the
children's licence runs out) mostly we bring the cut off time forward to 7pm
so that the evening drinkers will not be affected.

The over 21's is more for the evening sessions.

So, they believe they are doing us a favour by clearing the little buggers out by 9pm (or sometimes 7pm) but people want to have a nice LUNCH as well - the food they do is a bit fancy schmancy for kids, there are not nuggets or anything.
Also, in a backhanded way they are saying they recognise *I* am not a regular customer. But perhaps I MIGHT be if they sorted out the creche!
