I will defend motorsport a bit here! I know it uses fuel BUT!!
loads of stuff we take for granted on modern cars have been developed and tested on race cars over the years. fuel injection...anyone remember chokes?, much more efficiant than carbs. ABS, Traction control, DSC? all designed and tested on race cars. how about crash impact studies for head trauma etc? huge studies using crash data from high speed impacts where race drivers are real life crash test dummies! safety cells where designed to stiffen race cars to improve handling at speed, also useful when you have a crash! How about SIPS? developed after Kieth O`dor was killed at aldus. new lightweight materials are being grdually brought into modern mainstream cars, not just for pagini zonda`s et al. how about KERS? what you see today may be on a car in a showroom in the near future. It will have been tested to destruction to ensure it will be reliable. tommorows fuels are ALREADY being tested today Bio ethanol fuels a lot of cars as does methanol. This year an electric bike will race at the TT. Next year is a proposed race for electric vehicles and these will not be milk floats!!! How do you wean people off petrol? by showing them that there is something better! Ok soap box away until next time! |

Well said MG Malaysia was an excellent race, although it was clearly idiotic to schedule it at the same time as their evening downpour. (It does rain around 5pm daily at this time of year, so I'm not being facetious. For once). Anyway, the racing was really exciting and I think KERS could be one of the best things to happen to the sport for years as there was some epic battles with loads of place-swapping. Good news for Jenson although natuarally I wish that Hamilton had scored better. Now we have the hearing on the Brawn car ..... I hope they are ok, it will make for a much more exciting season. You are an angel heading for a land of sunshine. Fortune is smiling upon you.

So, if there's a car in front, just flip that bad boy out of the way!
Not quite such an exciting race this week, but an excellent result for Button and a creditable drive from Hamilton. The Maclaran is gaining ground and - unlike Ferrari - I don;t think I'd write them off just yet... You are an angel heading for a land of sunshine. Fortune is smiling upon you.

after massa`s accident and surtees being killed at brands, there is a lot of shouting about safety. Terrible accidents in both cases but both accidents! the
spring would have killed massa last year, this years helmets are improved, and surtees was hit by a flying wheel, unlucky but as it says on the ticket,
motorsport is dangerous! I dont think either could have been avoided.

Tend to agree there MG - its a dangerous sport and that's half of what attracts them in.
Dog it was good to see Hamilton win - I know that technically a resurgent McLaren helps Red Bull rather than Button and I do what to see an English driver win, but I am emotionally committed to Hamilton now and I always him to come home first.... Bloody hell, so Briatore's resigned and tacitly admitted that they asked Piquet Jr to crash. MG, you're a man on the inside - please tell me that this
isn't normal? Seriously, how easy would it be to crash the car badly enough to bring out the sc but not so badly as to actually injure / kill himself?

forget f1 for now, did anyone see the touring car final at brands? great days racing and a good result for the winner and nearly a fairytale ending for the
first of the losers...( thats second place if you didnt know!)

Have to confess that I didn't mg.
How could I forget f1 thogh when there is so mcuh going on. How Renault got away without a fine though amazes me. They should be banned from the sport. Meanwhile, the season looks like having an exciting finish as Button crawls towards the finale. Do you think he'll do it? You are an angel heading for a land of sunshine. Fortune is smiling upon you.

Hmmm, I'd rather see Hamilton take it back (and make a Button sandwich).

I see that Ecclestne is playing hard ball with Silverstone. He must be a bit soft in the head. He can't imagine that he can just scrap the Briritsh GP if
he fancies it, surely?
