Completely O/T but wondered what you think on this topic:

Would you boycott a certain recording artist if they had been publicly found guilty of a criminal offence that you didn't approve of?

I did not really want to spell out WHICH one I am on about because I am not after people saying "well I would never buy a record by Chris Brown in any case, he is crap, we thought you were a Rock Chick, SHAME one you"

The issue is - I happen to like Chris...

On another board a poster told us about an invite her friends received recently. An invite to a baptism-one where the invitees were expected to stump up for the celebration to the tune of 150 Euros each. This would of course be in addition the expected gift money.... It seems these breeders thought it would be a nice little earner to throw a 'come worship us' party.

The Greedy McBreedys paid 1700 Euros for the hall hire-and prepaid for the food. Not sure how much that came...

It's not the most in depth interview in the world (well it is Lorraine Kelly ;) ) but there are some interesting comments. I love what the no kids lady says when her other half has a wobble and isn't too sure he's made the right decision!!!

I found the mother a little irritating - especially when she openly says that she wants to change people's minds who choose not to have kids (using her 'lovely' kids as examples) ....

I've just been watching Danni Minogue interviewed by Piers Morgan. She came across quite well, but the last 10 minutes of the interview was Piers probing her about when she wanted to get married and have kids. She did say it was something she thought she had avoided so far and had planned to sidestep (having kids), but her current boyfriend is very keen to have children so she has now had to re-think. I think Ive posted a similar topic before but I would like the female perspective on this. Basically, Ive been on a couple of dating websites for a few months and almost all the women seem to want kids apart from those that already have them. I have only come across 3 or 4 women that didnt want kids but either I wasnt interested or the ones I was interested in obviously dont find stunning good looks and witty banter a turn on! LOL.

However, quite a few women that do want kids...

A moment ago Radio 5 live was talking about the peer who has stated that reduced meat production and consumption could be a useful step on emissions (note that he did NOT say people should "go veggie to save the planet" as the tabloids would have you believe). Some time ago I was lurking on another board and a person (not sure if it was a parent) made a comment about another woman's child being in care, the child was a teen. Now this poster then went on to state how being in care might be the teen's fault, I was a bit taken aback by this, she then stated that the woman had another younger child who was still with her and this was how she had come to the conclusion that it must be the child's fault.

I didn't see the Question Time Controvers-o-rama myself, but caught a few clips on the news. Everybody seems to think this was an early christmas present for the BNP, with loads of publicity. Maybe, but I think that can work both ways and from what I saw, Griffin came across as a whiny, bullying twat. Yeah, he was given a platform (and it's debatable as to whether that was a good idea), but he used that platform to expose his bigoted views for all the world to see.

Starting Education Too Young...

On the radio this morning there was a news item suggesting that children are being made to start formal education too young, apparently the ideal age for a child to start formal education is 6 and it can have a detremental effect on them if they're made to start any younger.

Since I am neither a young child, a parent nor a teacher, I'm wondering what the teachers on this forum think of this opinion?

I can remember going to Playschool when I was 3, and...

Just heard an item on the news about so-called "Happy Splashing"

This is where you deliberately drive fast through a puddle in order to soak a pedestrian!

Has anyone ever done this? I will confess I did it once when I was 18 and had only recently passed my driving test. I was EVIL back then, and although I laughed as I looked in my rear view mirror and saw them cursing me, I honestly felt properly guilty a few minutes later and for the rest of the day.

I was flicking through a women's weekly magazine and came across the advice pages. In the "Ask the [sexy] Doctor" section, some woman has sent in a letter asking what she should do if her child swallows something toxic, for example should she induce vomiting.

In a nutshell the advice was dial 999 and they will advise whether or not it's best to induce vomiting while waiting for the parameds depending on which toxic substance the kid has swallowed.

I have been trying to reach a client for a week, finally I got hold of her tonight. The problem seems to be, there are 3 kids in her household and if they answer the phone there is no way I am going to ask them to take a message as I know it simply won't get passed on, but the fact that they do answer it prevents me from leaving a message on the BT answering service.

Not in the rants section as it was just a mini moan, I'm tired.
